A refresh of the mobile boarding pass will reflect any changes to seat assignments, gate changes and upgrade confirmations. The technology prevents manipulation or duplication of the boarding passes and heightens security.

JFK Manchester Flights american airlines
American Airlines offer nonstop flights between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Manchester, England (MAN)
The new, summer seasonal flights to Manchester will depart daily from JFK. American will fly the route with a Boeing 757 aircraft with 16 seats in Business Class and 166 seats in the Economy cabin.
"We're delighted to add the great city of Manchester to American Airlines roster of 25 international flights from New York," said Art Torno, Vice President – New York for American Airlines. "This destination will be an important key building block in our mission of making New York a key cornerstone city for American."
"Manchester is a route that our New York customers will really appreciate," said Jim Carter, Vice President – Eastern Sales Division, for American. "It offers many attractions and has great appeal for both our leisure and business passengers."
Manchester is the largest city in the northern England and is a convenient base for exploring other cities in the region, such as Liverpool and Chester or the beautiful countryside of the Lake District. Manchester is the epicenter of football (soccer) and home to the famed Manchester United. It is the birthplace of fish and chips and the Industrial Revolution. Culturally, Manchester is renowned for its popular Indie music scene, and it hosts the impressive, artist-led Manchester International Festival, a global cultural festival of original, new work and special events.
Less expensive than London and many other EU capitals, Manchester is noted for its pubs and locally-produced beer – including Boddingtons. It is one of Europe's leading business/media cities and its new MediaCity complex houses many major businesses, recently attracting five departments of the BBC that moved there from London.
Andrew Stokes, Chief Executive of Marketing Manchester, said, "We're delighted that American Airlines is increasing its operations into Manchester. We welcome the opportunity to work with them on promoting Manchester to the New York market. As the gateway to the North of England, Manchester offers people from the U.S. the chance to experience not only our great city, but also the sights of the Lake District National Park, Liverpool and the Roman city of Chester – all of which are within easy reach of Manchester.
"The new route will also support the business community that travels frequently between Manchester and the U.S., in particular, international delegates attending conferences and exhibitions at our convention centers," Stokes said.

Lehigh Valley Airport complete Terminal Renovations
Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority celebrates a new look to its future with the completion of Phase I of the Airport Terminal Renovations Project.
The first phase of the 45,705 square feet terminal renovation project includes 17, 000 square feet of the Main Terminal Building that has been completely renovated and a new structural addition of 6,500 square feet that provides more functional operating space. In addition the entire terminal building received a complete floor refurbishment including installation of a new terrazzo finish. As part of the airport’s aggressive Green Policy the south second level exterior glass curtain wall has been replaced and enlarged to provide a more lighted and open interior space and improved energy efficiency.
Other work included in this phase was the demolition of existing and construction of new airline ticket counters and back offices, and construction of new concession space for news/gifts and restaurants.
An interesting feature of the renovation plan is elimination of the public area baggage screening function. Baggage screening will now be performed behind the ticketing area in the Phase I space. This will allow for an open ticketing hall, with improved passenger circulation.
The appearance of the terminal interior has changed significantly, resulting in a fresh, contemporary look replacing the outdated and somewhat worn existing finishes. New flat screen LCD displays replace the existing flight information monitors. New ticket counters and fresh wall treatments compliment the glass curtain wall, giving the building a more contemporary feel.
Transparent but significantly, all electrical and mechanical systems will be replaced by the completion of the project. A new terminal roof was installed in 2008.
Completion of the first phase took approximately 16 months and cost about $7,200,000.

AA B737 800 New seats Improved IFE
American Airlines announced that the second of its original 76 Boeing 737-800s – which are being updated to match the customer benefits and amenities featured on its newly-delivered 737-800 aircraft – begins flying with a range of new features to improve the travel experience. Once the updates are completed, American's initial fleet of 76 737-800s will match the 84 new Boeing 737-800 aircraft that American began receiving in March 2009 and will continue to receive through 2011.
The new 737-800s are being delivered to American with several enhancements, all of which will be added to the initial 76 737-800 fleet. These include new, more comfortable and spacious First and Economy Class seats, bigger overhead storage bins, updated inflight entertainment systems, and AC power ports. In addition, the new configuration of the 737-800s allows for 12 additional Economy Class seats, for a total of 160 seats.
A prototype of the updated aircraft has been in service since February. American will continue to upgrade the remaining 74 aircraft in its original fleet by installing new seats, new cabin interiors, enhanced inflight entertainment systems, and more storage throughout the aircraft. By accelerating its 737-800 fleet renewal plan last year, American took a significant step in its efforts to invest in products and services that benefit customers, while enhancing its competitive position with new aircraft that are 35 percent more fuel efficient on a seat mile basis than the MD-80 airplanes they will replace. American took delivery of 31 new 737-800s in 2009 and will take delivery of 45 this year and 8 in 2011.
"American remains focused on our long-term future, so it is vital that we continue to reinvest in our products and services to enhance the travel experience for our loyal customers," said Lauri Curtis, American's Vice President – Onboard Service. "Upgrading our existing fleet of 737s to match the new deliveries will benefit our customers, employees, shareholders and the communities we serve. These efforts will also keep our product competitive while offering cost, environmental and operational benefits."
Upon completion, the updated 737s will feature new First Class seats designed specifically for American by Weber Aircraft. The seats have a "slim-line" seatback design and innovative seat bottom that create enhanced space and increase customer comfort. The Economy Class cabin will feature 144 newly-designed seats that utilize a higher recline pivot to provide increased knee room. Throughout the cabin, drop-down LCD monitors will replace CRT monitors and a digital media file server will provide better-quality video and audio entertainment. A 110 volt AC power port will be located at every First Class seat, and two power ports will be located per every three Economy Class seats for easy accessibility.
In addition, bigger overhead storage bins will significantly increase customer cabin luggage capacity by allowing rolling bags to be loaded wheels first. Over time, American intends to equip all of its 737s with Gogo® Inflight Internet service, which will allow passengers to surf the Web, check email and send instant messages conveniently from the air.
The update effort began in May and the retrofitting is being done by American's mechanics at its maintenance base in Tulsa, Okla.
"Projects like this 737 retrofit are unique, rewarding and are appreciated by our engineering and maintenance teams, because we know that our work is going to directly improve the onboard experience of our customers," said Bill Cavitt, Vice President – Engineering, Performance Improvement Strategies and Quality Assurance.

Citibank PremierMiles card for airlines flights
Citibank introduces Citi PremierMiles travel card with five frequent flyer program partners, giving cardholders chance to redeem free trips on over 70 airlines
Frequent travelers are sure to embrace the latest plastic currency to come from Citi, the world's largest provider of credit cards.
The five frequent flyer programs featured in Citi's new card include Cathay Pacific's Asia Miles, Singapore Airline's Kris Flyer, Philippine Airlines' Mabuhay Miles, Thai Airway's Royal Orchid Plus and delta airlines skymiles. With their participation in three travel alliance programs - Oneworld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance – these frequent flyer programs will allow Citi PremierMiles cardholders to redeem their miles in more than 70 airlines.
The Citi PremierMiles card will offer cardholders the chance to earn free miles for all spending, at a generous rate of 1 mile for every P45, which they can redeem through a choice of five frequent flyer programs that include Mabuhay Miles, the frequent flyer program of national carrier Philippine Airlines. What's more, the miles do not expire, giving cardholders the freedom to rack up their miles to redeem a free trip, complimentary upgrade, or companion ticket whenever they want.
Mark Jones, Citi's country business manager, related their new plastic will redefine the travel card category. "Previously, travelers were limited in choosing their credit card on the basis of one frequent flyer program. However, travelers rarely fly using the same carrier everytime. Those who are looking for the best deals on airfare tend to switch airlines, depending on their destination," Jones narrated.
"With Citi PremierMiles, they will have total freedom with their miles, and can choose from as many as five frequent flyer programs and three travel alliance programs," explained Jones.
Citi PremierMiles has two variants, Gold and Platinum. Cardholders will earn one mile for every P45 spent using the card for local purchases. Overseas, Platinum cardholders will earn two miles for every P45 charged to their card.
Bea Tan, Citi's Cards Business Director, added that on top of the miles, cardholders of Citi PremierMiles will enjoy a range of travel-related conveniences. "When they purchase their travel tickets using Citi PremierMiles, our cardholders will enjoy free travel inconvenience and travel accident insurance. For those who normally purchase travel insurance, this is a pretty good deal."
Cardholders are insured for as much as P10 million when they pay for their travel expenses using Citi PremierMiles. Their travel accident coverage starts from point of departure until point of arrival.
Meanwhile, missed or delayed flights, delayed luggage or worse, lost luggage, all guaranteed to put off even the most seasoned of travelers, are made easier when travel tickets are paid with Citi Premier Miles. "If you are traveling alone and your luggage is delayed for six hours from your arrival, you can claim as much as P10,000 for the inconvenience. If you are traveling with your family, the claim climbs to P20,000. That's enough for you to shop for a couple of change of clothes," Tan explained.
"If 24 hours passed and your luggage is still not found, you will be entitled to P30,000 if you are traveling solo, or P60,000, when with family."
Citi PremierMiles first debuted in the United States in 2004, where it is known as Citi PremierPass. Three years later, it was launched in Singapore as Citi PremierMiles where it was equally well-received.
“Citi PremierMiles was designed to help consumers not only earn more miles, but make it easier to enjoy them. The unmatched offerings of this new card will redefine consumers’ expectations in reward programs. And the best part is this is just one of our many exciting new products lined up for 2008," concluded Jones.
Those who are looking for the best deals on airfare tend to switch airlines, depending on their destination," Jones narrated.

list of airports cut by delta airlines
Delta airlines will stop service to 24 small airports. In concert with the retirement of Delta's Saab fleet and to halt $14 million in annual losses, the changes will affect Essential Air Service (EAS) markets.
"While Delta would prefer to continue serving these communities, the new reality of mounting cost pressures faced by our industry means we can no longer afford to provide this service. As we continue to strengthen our business, Delta is retiring the Saab turboprops and some 50-seat jet aircraft, which will hinder the financial viability of serving these smaller markets," Delta said.
Delta will offer customers booked for travel in these markets alternative transportation choices or refunds. Delta will reach out to customers who have provided full contact information in their reservations to arrange alternate transportation or refunds. Customers wishing to make changes to reservations also can contact Delta Reservations at 1-800-221-1212.
The notification provides the DOT the opportunity to select a new carrier to begin service in affected EAS communities within a 90-day period. Delta will continue to serve the affected communities through its Delta Connection partners until the DOT selects a replacement carrier and appropriate funding is available. In some cities, Delta is coordinating with other carriers to bid on the routes. In addition, Delta will to continue service in some subsidized and non-subsidized markets, but the subsidy rate must be higher in order for Delta to fly larger regional jets on the routes in question. A complete list of communities cut by delta airlines is available at http://news.delta.com/index.php?s=18&item=156.
The EAS program was created to ensure small communities continue to have access to passenger air service. In some cases, airline service in EAS markets is subsidized by the government.

Delta stop service to Tupelo Regional Airport
The Tupelo Regional Airport is one of 24 airports across the country that will lose commercial air service by Delta airlines.the change won't take effect until July 2012 unless another airline agrees to to take over the service before then.
Delta announced their intentions to adjust air service out of Tupelo Regional Airport. They have stated that “Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) today will notify the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) of its plans to adjust flying in 24 small markets. In concert with the retirement of Delta’s Saab fleet and to halt $14 million in annual losses, the changes will affect Essential Air Service (EAS) markets.” Tupelo is an Essential Air Service market.
Your airline tickets are safe and air service will continue. We will persist to work hard in maintaining air service through these hard times. Through the Essential Air Service program, Tupelo is guaranteed to receive a minimum level of air service with at least 2 to 4 daily round trips with 19-seat aircraft to a major hub. The Essential Air Service program is supposed to be temporary, not a long term solution.
Your airport administration has been proactive with these changes in the market and is ready for the challenge ahead. The professionals of BoydGroup completed our most recent air service assessment earlier this year in March and a plan is in place to retain air service. Right now, DOT is in charge of our service with Delta. The next step is for them to solicit a request of proposals to all schedule carriers to replace the incumbent. Service from Delta will not stop until a replacement carrier begins service.
We hope to remove the airport form the EAS program as soon as possible and have a financially viable route for you to fly. The Tupelo Airport Authority’s main goal is to serve its community and, when it comes to air service, we are dedicated to providing the best services possible.

Delta To cut flights to Small airports
Delta airlines will adjust flights to small markets. In concert with the retirement of Delta's Saab fleet and to halt $14 million in annual losses, the changes will affect Essential Air Service (EAS) markets.
Flights in these airport on average depart with 52 percent of the seats filled, with some locations as low as 12 percent. This compares to a domestic system load factor of 83 percent for 2010. Weak demand in some markets has led to flights occasionally operated with no passengers on board.
Delta has taken a number of steps to respond to added cost pressures. Delta previously announced its intention to reduce capacity this fall by 4 percent and retire 140 aircraft. Delta has reduced its facility costs at 170 airport locations and 10 cargo locations across the system, saving more than $80 million annually.
The notification provides the DOT the opportunity to select a new carrier to begin service in affected EAS communities within a 90-day period. AA ORD to Finland Summer Flight
American Airlines today launched its newest international flight from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Helsinki, Finland.
Operating out of American's "Gateway to the World" terminal at O'Hare from May 1 through Oct. 29, the new flight is one of the new routes announced last October as part of American's trans-Atlantic joint business with British Airways and Iberia.
American will fly the new route with its two-class Boeing 767-300 aircraft, offering 30 lie-flat Business Class seats and 195 seats in Economy Class.
The schedule for the new route is as follows:
From Chicago to Helsinki on AA Flight 130:
Chicago (ORD) 3:40 p.m.
Helsinki (HEL) 08.30 a.m.
(next day)
AA Flight 131:
Helsinki (HEL) 2:10 p.m. Chicago (ORD) 3:40 p.m.
"This is American's first flight to Finland, which is now the 10th European country that we serve nonstop from the United States," said Loretta Kuss, American's Regional Director, Passenger Sales – Chicago. "The service will enable U.S. passengers to connect to nearly 15 destinations across Scandinavia, the Baltics, Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Poland, Northern Germany and domestic markets in Finland."
American's new nonstop service will be the second from the U.S. to Helsinki, complementing oneworld partner Finnair's existing JFK HEL flight. American is a founding member of the oneworld Alliance.
"We are delighted to be launching this new route and to be extending our reach into Northern Europe," Kuss added. "We are also excited to be working closely with our partners at Finnair and believe this new service will be very popular with our customers."
"Today's world is shrinking due to globalized business, new communications technologies, and increased international travel. Good connections are essential to get people to meet and experience new ideas and develop business and cultural ties. American Airlines, supported by Finnair, is establishing a historic, new direct flight connection that will finally fill the gap that has separated Chicago, the Midwest, and Helsinki – not only by distance, but by lack of mutual awareness," said Olavi Goos, the Honorary Consul of Finland. "We applaud and congratulate American Airlines for creating a direct connection between Helsinki and Chicago. We are certain that this new link will bring the people of these two great cities closer."

To enhance customer service, SkyTeam member airlines focus on increasing co-locating check-in areas, airport ticket offices and lounges at airports worldwide.
“Welcoming SkyTeam today is a great moment for our airport and our passengers. SkyTeam members connect Budapest to some of the top business and leisure destinations in the world”, said Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport. “We will handle 24 SkyTeam flights daily through our brand new SkyCourt terminal at Budapest Airport. Passengers can transfer at hubs like Paris, Rome, Amsterdam and New York JFK. Just this summer season we expect no less than 5351 flights of SkyTeam members.”
As part of SkyTeam day, member airlines operated alliance liveried aircraft out of the airport. Delta Air Lines was the first SkyTeam arrival of the day and was greeted with a water cannon salute to mark the first flight of Delta’s summer service between Budapest and New York JFK.

THY will increase the frequency of its flights from seven to ten a week as of 15 July, the onset of the peak tourist season, in view of the increasing demand for the direct aerial connection between Budapest and Istanbul.
The Turkish national carrier transported approximately 90 000 passengers between Budapest and Istanbul last year, and is forecasting a significant increase for this year, potentially up to 115 000 passengers, said Levend Arisoy, country manager for Turkish Airlines, during the handover of the new office.
Turkish Airlines plans to maintain the ten flights per week during the winter period as well, since there are indications that passengers favor the comfortable transfer opportunities offered by the Turkish carrier to the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Australia. This is supported by the fact that, according to the statistics, approximately 40 percent of passengers traveling to Istanbul are headed to the city located on the border between Europe and Asia, whilst another 40 percent transfer to other Turkish flights operating to other foreign destinations and 20 percent change to Turkish domestic flights to Antalya, Izmir and other popular Turkish holiday resorts.
Last year Turkish Airlines carried no less than 29 million passengers to 139 cities worldwide, and operated an additional 42 domestic flights within Turkey. THY’s fleet consists of 164 airliners, largely manufactured by Airbus and Boeing, and 5 cargo aircraft. The Budapest flight is most frequently operated with Airbus A 320 and 321 aircraft. The Istanbul-based national carrier is a member of Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline association, along with other influential carriers such as Lufthansa, United Airlines, Swiss, SAS, BMI British Midland and Continental.

Budapest Airport discount parking prices
Budapest Airport has timed the introduction of the new prices to coincide with the onset of the holiday season, with the lower prices taking effect today, 1 July.
The price-cutting campaign has reached the car parks at Budapest Airport: prices in the long stay car park droped by at least 30 %, and the price for two weeks of parking has been halved. One of the factors during the calculation was that the long stay car park, which means at least a week of parking - roughly the duration of a summer holiday abroad - should be cheaper than traveling to the airport and back to the city by taxi.
The discount parking prices are valid from 1 July until 30 September. As a result, prices at the Terminal 2 long stay car park are reduced from 9 990 HUF to 5 999 HUF for one week of parking, and from 20 800 HUF to 9 990 HUF for two weeks. The aim of the initiative is to increase the number of clients using the long stay car park during the holiday season by making prices competitive with other modes of airport transfer.
Based on the traffic arrangements established at the airport, passengers about to depart for their holidays are able to drop off their families and baggage on the departure level of Terminal 2 before parking their cars in the safety of the long stay car park, which will be conveniently waiting for them upon their return. With the new prices, this will be equally worthwhile for passengers from Budapest and from the countryside. The latter can thus avoid the discomfort of bus or train rides, and of changing. Budapest Airport can thereby also contribute to the trimming of holiday expenditure for passengers.
