Since 30 March this year, Qatar Airways has operated a direct service from Copenhagen to the airline’s main hub in Doha. Previously, the airline used the Airbus 319-LR aircraft seating 110 passengers, but already in the winter season beginning on 31 October, the airline will improve its product and more than double its capacity on the route by using the much larger A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft seating 260 and 305 passengers, respectively. The airline is thus increasing the supply of seats available to travellers by a wide margin.
Strong growth in intercontinental traffic
The capacity increase between Copenhagen and Doha is yet another result of the increased demand for intercontinental services out of Copenhagen. This year alone, capacity has been increased on several intercontinental routes and Copenhagen Airport has attracted three new intercontinental services in addition to the service to Doha: JFK, Toronto and Cairo.
“Qatar Airways has enjoyed enormous success on the service between Copenhagen and Doha. The airline has taken advantage of the large market potential and the future growth potential at Copenhagen Airport, causing this massive capacity increase after just six months. That gives the Scandinavian passengers even more options when it comes to the Middle East and Asian destinations said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales, at Copenhagen Airport.
Further capacity strengthening on the way
In February, Qatar Airways will strengthen its capacity even further by increasing the weekly number of frequencies from the current four to six.
