As passenger numbers have gone up by 46% year on year, Cimber Sterling has decided to increase the number of frequencies on four out of its six Danish domestic services, namely Copenhagen to Rønne, Karup, Aarhus and Sønderborg. Travellers on the Danish domestic services will now have more frequencies to choose from and thus more flexibility.
“Over the past few months, we have seen a sharp increase in the number of passengers travelling on domestic flights. I think that, irrespective of the purpose of their trip, people have begun to realise how fast and inexpensive it is to travel by air within Denmark. The Danish market is extremely competitive, but we have won market shares, and it is our stated ambition to be the leading airline on Danish domestic services. The new frequencies should be seen as part of that strategy, but we also believe our customer base warrants such a major increase of our frequencies, said Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO of Cimber Sterling.
Popular domestic destinations
“We are very pleased with Cimber Sterling's decision to add additional frequencies to four of the Danish domestic services. Until last year, domestic traffic accounted for about 10% of total traffic out of Copenhagen Airport; that figure has now increased to about 12%, marking a very distinct improvement, and there must therefore be a basis for more daily frequencies to the most popular domestic destinations, said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales at Copenhagen Airport.
Business travellers on Danish domestic services in particular demand a flexible product with many daily frequencies.
“Domestic services are our core business, and the new frequencies mark a substantial strengthening of our domestic product. We maintain a continuous dialogue with our customers and we know that a high number of frequencies is a key factor in the selection of which airline to use. We are very confident that our initiative on the Danish domestic route network will be very well received by our customers, said Krogsgaard.
Copenhagen-Rønne: The number of daily frequencies will be increased from seven to ten.
Copenhagen-Karup: The number of daily frequencies will be increased from ten to twelve. The new frequencies will strengthen our noon and afternoon services.
Copenhagen-Aarhus: The number of daily frequencies will be increased from four to six. The new frequencies will strengthen our morning and early evening services.
Copenhagen-Sønderborg: The number of daily frequencies will be increased from four to five. The new frequency will be a round trip around noon, and is the result of demand from the business community.
Cimber Sterling’s new frequencies will be added to the timetable after the summer.
