redspottedhanky.com Launches New Online Scratch Card Game

October 21, 2010

redspottedhanky.com, online travel retailer, has launched a new online scratch card game that gives customers the chance to win loyalty points which can be redeemed against future train tickets.

The scratch card scheme was tested in Manchester and Birmingham, where customers were given scratch cards at the train station. They could then redeem any loyalty points that they won online and use them against future cheap train tickets (http://www.redspottedhanky.com/ ).

The scratch card game is now available on redspottedhanky.com&39;s website, with 50,000 online scratch cards, each with a loyalty value on them. Customers can get up to &163;1000 worth of points online, and redspottedhanky.com are still waiting for two &163;1000 prizes to be claimed that were won from the Manchester and Birmingham scratch cards (http://www.redspottedhanky.com/scratch-and-save/entry/ ).

Customers can also play the virtual scratch card game through the redspottedhanky.com&39;s website. Players simply enter their name and email address, and then scratch off their card with a virtual coin. The scratch card then reveals how many loyalty points the customer has received and how much this is worth off their next train journey. Customers can then log in and use their points when they are booking their train tickets online (http://www.redspottedhanky.com/ ).

Ursula Morgenstern for redspottedhanky.com, said: "Businesses across the UK are feeling the pinch now more than ever and we felt it was about time that someone made life genuinely easier and cheaper for them. This is why we launched redspottedhanky.com, offering customers up to 80% cost savings on train fares booked in advance. We are proud to be the first UK train ticket web site to offer loyalty points (http://www.redspottedhanky.com/loyalty/ ) for regular travellers. We believe that business customers will benefit hugely from using our independent service and encourage them to compare prices on our site next time they&39;re booking business travel."

Ursula continued: "We all know the frustrations of the airport check-in queue and traffic jams. Rail is often the better choice for domestic business travel and as our research shows, can save companies valuable money and time - both of which business can re-invest. With other forms of transport, there are often unforeseen costs and time implications - for example, check-in time requirements and onward travel for plane journeys - and companies need to start factoring this in for more informed business travel decisions."

Unlike many online retailers, redspottedhanky.com does not charge a credit or debit card fee, with only a one-off &163;1 booking fee per transaction while normal ticket delivery is free. When customers spend over &163;100 with redspottedhanky.com, they will earn enough loyalty points to make sure there is no booking fee on their next purchase. Through its Price Promise, redspottedhanky.com guarantees to match any cheaper fares that business travellers may find and will refund the difference in loyalty points direct to the business customer&39;s account. Customers can also use redspottedhanky.com to book European rail travel (including for Eurostar) and event tickets.

Travel Insurance and Airline Default Protection

May 16, 2005

&194;“During the past few weeks we have been receiving more and more phone calls from consumers concerning the financial default protection found in travel insurance and whether or not they can be protected if their trip is cancelled or interrupted because of an airline bankruptcy&194;” said John Cook, President of QuoteWright.com. &194;“In today&194;’s delicate financial environment, consumers should consider ways to protect themselves from possible travel disruptions due to airline bankruptcies or strikes. Travel Insurance is one consideration. But there are a couple of guidelines that consumers should follow in order to ensure maximum protection. Consumers should:

1. Buy travel insurance from an independent source rather than from the travel provider. Travel Insurance policies offered by tour operators, cruise lines, or airlines either don&194;’t cover their own financial default or they exclude the financial default of the company from whom you purchase your coverage.

2. Check the insurance plan to see if they have a list of airlines or travel companies that they either will or will not cover. One company, Access America, provides a list of companies they will cover while two other companies, Travel Guard and Travelex, provide a list of companies they will not cover.

3. Buy travel insurance very soon after they make a deposit. Default protection is only available if you purchase your travel insurance within 10 to 21 days of your initial deposit. The time period varies with each company and plan so our advice is to do it within 10 days to ensure that you have the maximum flexibility.

4. Review the coverage carefully. Some plans will have a &194;“waiting period&194;” after the coverage is purchased before the default coverage goes into effect. In some cases this is 14 days after you buy the insurance. Another reason to buy coverage early.

5. Buy your trip or airline ticket through a travel agent. Some insurance plans exclude coverage if you have purchase your trip directly with the travel company. Most travel insurance plans will not, however, to have the maximum flexibility you should purchase your trip through a travel agent, whether locally or online, rather than buying direct.

6. Always use a credit card for the payment of your ticket or trip. In the event of a default you might be able to dispute your charge and have the credit card company remove it from your billing. This is fine if it happens prior to your trip but doesn&194;’t help much if you are traveling at the time of the default. If that happens other airlines might offer you an alternative on a standby basis but it can still result in delays and additional expenses that would be covered by many travel insurance policies.

These are all ways that a consumer can minimize their risks. You can never eliminate all risks but you can take prudent measures to minimize them before you travel.&194;”

Wishes Can Come True, says Confused.com

August 2, 2009

Joanne Garcia, Head of Credit Cards at Confused.com comments on the launch of O2&39;s fee free pre-paid cards.

"This is a breath of fresh air at a time when fees are creeping back up on many financial products. O2 and Nat West are delivering a fantastic innovation with their Cash Manager and Load&Go pre-paid cards, and we hope this will encourage more competition.

"We&39;ve been cautious fans of pre-paid cards for sometime because the benefits have been limited to a small number of people, due to the charges applied. We don&39;t believe that people should be charged for trying to manage their money responsibly.

"The O2 Load&Go card which is aimed at children aged 13 and over, will help educate and ensure that financial control is learned from a young age and young people won&39;t have to worry about carrying and losing cash."

Cimber Sterling adds additional frequencies to its domestic routes

As passenger numbers have gone up by 46% year on year, Cimber Sterling has decided to increase the number of frequencies on four out of its six Danish domestic services, namely Copenhagen to Rønne, Karup, Aarhus and Sønderborg. Travellers on the Danish domestic services will now have more frequencies to choose from and thus more flexibility.

“Over the past few months, we have seen a sharp increase in the number of passengers travelling on domestic flights. I think that, irrespective of the purpose of their trip, people have begun to realise how fast and inexpensive it is to travel by air within Denmark. The Danish market is extremely competitive, but we have won market shares, and it is our stated ambition to be the leading airline on Danish domestic services. The new frequencies should be seen as part of that strategy, but we also believe our customer base warrants such a major increase of our frequencies, said Jacob Krogsgaard, CEO of Cimber Sterling.

Popular domestic destinations
“We are very pleased with Cimber Sterling's decision to add additional frequencies to four of the Danish domestic services. Until last year, domestic traffic accounted for about 10% of total traffic out of Copenhagen Airport; that figure has now increased to about 12%, marking a very distinct improvement, and there must therefore be a basis for more daily frequencies to the most popular domestic destinations, said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales at Copenhagen Airport.

Business travellers on Danish domestic services in particular demand a flexible product with many daily frequencies.

“Domestic services are our core business, and the new frequencies mark a substantial strengthening of our domestic product. We maintain a continuous dialogue with our customers and we know that a high number of frequencies is a key factor in the selection of which airline to use. We are very confident that our initiative on the Danish domestic route network will be very well received by our customers, said Krogsgaard.

Copenhagen-Rønne: The number of daily frequencies will be increased from seven to ten.

Copenhagen-Karup: The number of daily frequencies will be increased from ten to twelve. The new frequencies will strengthen our noon and afternoon services.

Copenhagen-Aarhus: The number of daily frequencies will be increased from four to six. The new frequencies will strengthen our morning and early evening services.

Copenhagen-Sønderborg: The number of daily frequencies will be increased from four to five. The new frequency will be a round trip around noon, and is the result of demand from the business community.

Cimber Sterling’s new frequencies will be added to the timetable after the summer.

easyJet to open service from Copenhagen to Paris

Danish passengers can book flights directly from Copenhagen to Paris CDG on easyJet starting today. The first flight on the service will be on 10 September 2010.

“We are pleased to be able to offer passengers a daily non-stop low-cost connection between Copenhagen and Paris CDG, which has so far only been served by the old national carriers SAS and Air France. Paris is a very important destination to both Danish tourists who like city breaks and business travellers who can all save big on flying with easyJet, said Thomas Haagensen, easyJet’s Regional General Manager for Northern Europe, and he continues:

“We also expect that many French tourists will use the new service to visit the Danish capital. br />
Strong growth in Denmark
“In recent years we have worked hard to make easyJet grow here at Copenhagen Airport, so the new service to Paris is a welcome expansion of the airline’s route network out of Copenhagen, said Ole Wieth Christensen, Route Development Manager at Copenhagen Airports about the service to Paris, which is easyJet’s third new route out of Copenhagen during the past year.

easyJet opened its first route between Copenhagen and London Stansted in 1998, and the airline now serves seven destinations out of Copenhagen. In 2009 alone, passengers benefited from three new easyJet services to and from Copenhagen.

Travellers can fly from Copenhagen to Paris CDG on Mondays to Fridays and on Sundays at 16.05, and on Saturdays at 18.25. The flights from Paris depart at 13.50 on Mondays to Fridays and on Sundays. On Saturdays, the departure time from Paris will be 16.10. The flight takes two hours.
